Effective Communication and Person-Centredness in the Care of People Living with Dementia
Coping with Telehealth: Communication for Work and Life
Tele-health and Teletriage includes any form of consultation with a healthcare professional that does not involve a face-to-face visit. This may include consultation
by telephone, video conferencing, computer or smartphone. Telehealth and Teletriage present new challenges for Healthcare Professionals in adhering to a
person-centred approach. It has potential to add to the stress and coping ability and increase the risk to personal health. While decision-making software facilitates the
essential steps required for safe and effective Telehealth, there is still a need for specific training that increases coping and competency in communication in this
challenging field.
Coping with Conflict and Conflict Resolution
Conflict is inevitable in any work situation involving human-human communication which is complex, has competing agendas and always involves the emotionality of human-human relationships. The negative consequences of conflict and unresolved conflict for health and well-being are well documented. Adhering to the principles of person-centredness and compassionate interaction with clients is made more difficult.
