An Introduction To Good Communication
One day course
Effective communication skills are vital for conveying the correct values, trust and respect and achieving the correct outcomes with customers, clients, and colleagues. It is not just about others but also about ‘self’ and how coleagues feel about communication and managing relationships in the workplace. Paying attention to one’s personhood, being self-aware, and listening well are the first steps towards becoming a good communicator. It will also help participants to address any potential work-related stress and sometimes prevent burnout. Health Action Training (HAT) is an established method for teaching communication skills, person-centredness and relationship management skills in any workplace. The use of Fun Learning, Improv Games, Role Play and Creative Personal Reflection accelerates and consolidates the learning process and communication skills at all levels.

This one-day course aims to help participants apply the HAT communication principles to enhance existing communication skills and improve listening self-awareness and self-care skills while gaining confidence in challenging communication in the workplace.

At the end of the session, participants will be armed with improved core communication skills to support them to:
• Show improved communication skills across a range of workplace contexts including face-to-face, telephone, email, or video communication with customers and colleagues.

• Deal more effectively with day to day conflict communication based situations such as internal communication challenges, managing customer/ supplier complaints and mindful colleague engagement.

• Reflect on self-care, gaining new skills to help them with centreing, relaxation and resilience in the workplace.
